Service #2: Accommodation (House To Let)

The Cultural Holidays on Inis Mór and on the mainland are carefully designed to share an authentic Irish-Celtic experience through music, song, dance, storytelling, Celtic wisdom and mythology, archaeology, history, hiking, yoga and relaxation, basket weaving etc. This project is developed in conjunction with local islanders who convey their rich culture and knowledge and it promotes a sustainable tourism on the Island.

Since 1974 Elizabeth Zollinger, an artist from Switzerland, is living part time on the island. She has developed an intimate relationship with the place, its people and its culture and this inspired her to develop the Celtic Spirit Project in 1996. The Cultural Weeks aim to preserve and retain the true culture and heritage of Inis Mór and promoting a sustainable tourism for the island.

‘Inis Mór is an ancient place and its mystical aura has attracted people from all corners of the world for thousands of years. For early Christian monks the solitude provided peace and inspiration. The past seems to pulse from its Celtic and prehistoric sites and it lives on in the local legends, language, dances and songs. These rich cultural features form the natural ingredients for our Celtic Weeks. Today this unique atmosphere still exists for visitors. The island has a unique rhythm of its own – time stands still and you too can find the calm and strength in its unspoilt natural environment. You will be able to experience an unforgettable holiday on this magic island.’

We offer carefully designed programmes with different focus:
Elizabeth and some local people will be on hand during the week to meet with you and lead the different activities. A strong command of English is not essential. German translation can be provided and the energy, humor and colorful personalities of the islanders speak an international language.

We also offer tailor made programmes for special interest groups:
We also can create an individual programme to suit your group’s specific needs. This can be for folk dance groups, hiking groups, single groups, church groups, teachers, librarians, basket weaving groups, circle of friends, family reunions, birthdays and other special occasions.

House to let:
When Elizabeth is not on the island, she offers her house for rent in the beautiful west of the Island away from the tourist stream with a spectacular sea view over to the mountains of Connemara. It has two bedrooms and a large living room with an open kitchen, a cosy stove and central heating. It is also very warm in the winter. It is very well equipped with all you need, including an interesting library, CD’s and DVD’s. Wifi is available.
