Glamping on Inis Mor, The Aran Islands, Ireland
Aran Islands Camping and Glamping has 9 specially designed glamping pods, with each one able to accommodate up to four people. These Clochán na Carraige, or Clochans for short, have a design based on the look of the old beehive shaped stone huts that can still be found on parts of the island and around Ireland. Whereas these huts were quite Spartan abodes used by reclusive monks, the Clochans are the complete opposite. They are fully self-contained and equipped with everything you need to feel as though you are at home from the moment your step through the door. You can find out more about the glamping pods by looking at the menu option on this page.
Camping on Inis Mor, The Aran Islands, Ireland
In addition to the glamping pods, Aran Islands Camping and Glamping also provides numerous tent pitches on 3 organic grass fields. The recently completed shower block, camp kitchen and social areas provide all the facilities you need when camping, and there is also a laundry machine available. Just the thing if you need to wash or dry clothes after a day spent hiking or doing some other outdoor activity!
What is Glamping?
Glamping is short for Glamorous Camping, If you love the outdoors, but are not altogether keen on having to ‘rough’ it at campsites, then glamping is the perfect choice for you. It is a way of experiencing all the benefits of the outdoor life without any of the hardships. Instead of a tent, you stay in a snug and warm glamping unit. Instead of worrying about sleeping on a hard floor, you have a comfy bed. In short, the glamping pods at Aran Islands Camping and Glamping offer all the conveniences of a home away from home, whilst being surrounded by the magnificent natural beauty of Inis Mor.
Two types of custom designed Glamping Units.
We offer two types of Glamping accommodation. The larger Tigín Glamping Unit which sleeps up to six people, and the original Clochán Glamping Unit which sleeps up to four people.
The Tigín Glamping Unit
Newly completed in 2018, the 7 Tigín Glamping Units are the newest addition to Aran islands Camping and Glamping. Each of our units can accommodate up to six people, as they have four single bed’s (In a bunk style), sofa bed and pull out bed. Each of our Tigín‘s also has a seperate shower room and bathroom complete with a wash basin.
Each Tigín has a mini-kitchen, complete with fridge, kettle, microwave, plates, cutlery and cups. This mini-kitchen is ideal for either preparing breakfast or snacks, and many people appreciate the choice of being able to self-cater whenever they choose. Larger meals can be prepared over in the shared kitchen which is close by.
The Clochán Glamping Unit
The 9 Clochán na Carraige, or Clochans for short, are specially designed just for our site. They have been inspired by the traditional beehive style stone huts once used by monks that can be found scattered throughout the island. Each one has been thoughtfully constructed, offering you a comfortable home away from home on Inis Mor.
Each of our snug and cosy units can accommodate up to four people, as they have a double bed, sofa bed and pull out bed. Each of our Cochlans also has a shower room complete with w/c and a wash basin.
One of the best things about our glamping units, is that they are fully heated. No matter what time of year you visit Inis Mor, you will always have somewhere warm and dry to come back to. This, more than anything, is what persuades some people to opt for glamping over camping!
In addition, every Clochan has a mini-kitchen, complete with fridge, kettle, microwave, plates, cutlery and cups. This mini-kitchen is ideal for either preparing breakfast or snacks, and many people appreciate the choice of being able to self-cater whenever they choose. Larger meals can be prepared over in the shared kitchen which is close by.
What do I need to bring while Glamping:
No special equipment is needed, no special skills, and no more preparation than if you were staying in so-called ‘regular’ accommodation. Each of the glamping pods at Aran Islands Camping and Glamping comes fully equipped with everything you need to make your stay a comfortable one. You don’t even need a sleeping bag, as bedding is provided!
